Public Policy
The Associated General Contractors is one of
the leading trade groups involved in public policy both at a federal and state
level.
The primary portal for both national and state
AGC public policy is the “Legislative
Action Center.”
ASSOCIATED GENERAL CONTRACTORS OF AMERICA: The Associated General Contractors of
America headquartered in the
Washington DC area is the most credible and tireless advocate for the
construction industry in Congress, before the federal agencies, the
administration, and in the courts. AGC has a strong and effective team of
advocacy professionals located in a townhouse one block from the U.S. Capitol.
The staff works directly with elected officials and government agencies to
encourage additional investment in infrastructure, tax policies that promote
investment, common-sense tort reform and immigration reform, which are among
AGC’s top priorities.
AGC’s legal advocacy staff monitors nationally significant legal cases that
either promise to improve or threaten to damage the business environment in the
construction industry. In addition to the government affairs and legal
staff, AGC maintains a $1 million political action committee - AGC PAC and a
network of grassroots activists give AGC members an opportunity to make their
voices heard at all levels of government. All of these programs are vital
elements of a successful advocacy effort.

IDAHO ASSOCIATED
GENERAL CONTRACTORS: The Idaho Associated General
Contractors is one of the largest chapters within the AGCA family representing
over 1,100 member companies throughout the state. With offices in Coeur d’Alene,
Idaho Falls, Twin Falls and the headquarters in Boise, the IAGC is a prominent
voice in the public policy arena. The IAGC is actively engaged in issues
affecting the commercial construction industry, and works on regulatory and
legislative matters.
During the annual legislative session, the IAGC lobbying team actively
participates in the process, and the IAGC is very effective at protecting
construction industry interests.
With about 1,000 pieces of legislation introduced annually, it is critical that
the IAGC be engaged in the Legislature. The IAGC Legislative Committee comprised
of IAGC member contractors from around the state meets regularly during the
session to take positions on bills. In addition, members have the opportunity to
be engaged in the process through the “Legislative Action Center” which is
designed to provide members with timely information and access to elected
officials to assist in the IAGC’s lobbying efforts.
The IAGC is also a key player in Idaho’s electoral process, and the IAGC
Political Action Committee is one of the larger participants in elections
throughout the state. Funded by voluntary contributions by IAGC members, the
IAGC PAC support candidates who understand the importance of the construction
industry to the economic health of the state.
